A new old toy was brought out from the garage today. Oh and let the fun begin again.
Titus and Elsa immediately began to teach Oscar how to play with this crazy toy.

Preschooler
I am starting a preschool type structured play time with Titus and Elsa. Mostly Titus, but Elsa is so interested in what Titus does I have to include her somehow.
Today Titus is using kid scissors for the first time! I knew all that scrap paper would come in handy someday. Right? He loves "doing school." Even though he wants to ride bus to get there.
Elsa joins in the fun today by coloring. She does such an amazing job at holding her crayon correctly and drawing shapes and straight lines.
I am in awe at how different these two are. I really look forward to seeing them develop further and to see how Oscar resembles and differs from them too. (it's his nap time)

Oscar is 6 months
Six months ago a little 3 1/2 pound little baby boy waiting sleepily in a NICU for us to hold him. Now at six months old, Oscar still loves being held. But, he is close to sitting up by himself and he is learning to "swim." (aka pre-crawling!)
He is so much fun to hang out with. Tummy time is a family favorite! He's even enjoyed his first swing. Big brother Titus loved pushing little Oscar in his swing. And Elsa loved swinging next to him.

Rice cereal time. Oh yeah. Oscar had been watching us eat for a few weeks now, so we decided it was time to start the messy fun!

Bouncing Baby Boy
I firmly believe Oscar is going to walk sooner than Titus or Elsa did. (Not that the bar is set too high. Both Titus and Elsa didn't start walking until 16 months.) However Oscar absolutely loves to stand and is a lot more stable than Titus and Elsa were for this age. Correcting for him being 7 weeks early really puts it in perspective. Can you image a 16 week old doing this?
Titus and Elsa don't stand still long enough to be documented by video anymore otherwise I would have loaded one of them. I do have some old posts to link from when Titus and Elsa were about 5 months old so enjoy these from the past:

Elsa - In the Bouncy Seat

It is finished
Today I am happy to announce Oscar Reid Carnahan is an officially and legally recognized member of this Carnahan Family!!!
The courts are finally catching up to the knowledge we have had for a few months now. Oscar has been a Carnahan for a while now. Even in the NICU we saw his stubbornness, and the Carnahan one eye peek, just like Titus, Daddy and Grandad. Oscar fits right in the mix of this family. A good baby. Easier than Elsa, but maybe not as easy as Titus. Titus and Elsa love on him constantly. We have to ask them to give him space. And to leave him alone while he sleeps.
Oscar,
We have loved you and prayed for you for two years now. God knew when you would be born and where you would grow up. He knit you together in your mothers womb. The tapestry of your life has been woven into the tapestry of our lives. Our threads are forever intertwined. We love you, and we are thankful for this day of finalization.
Psalm 139:13-18 ESV (emphasis mine)
"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was non of them. How precious to me are you thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you."

Happy Fathers Day
This man we call dad in our home is a beautiful being. He lovingly leads our family graciously and full of truth. This man we call dad in our home may have his flaws, but his love, patience and strength surpass anything . This man is a father who loves his family so much that he puts Christ first in his and our lives. His ability to calm the storms in our lives is a wonderful representation of that priority.
Thank you Jordan for being that man we call dad in our home. I love you.
Thank you for putting our Lord God, who we call Father first in our home.

Uncle Jeff Visit
We were blessed with the company of Jeff for a few hours. Sadly we did only have a few hours and I (Tiffany) was so busy just chatting away that I didn't get the photos I should have. Sorry. We had a lovely time talking about just about everything, and playing with all the kids.
Uncle Jeff really enjoyed Oscar and commented on how strong he was! An of course told him about all the cool stuff Jeff would teach Oscar in the future. Thanks Jeff for taking the time and energy to come visit us!!

3 Months
Oscar is now 3 whole months old. He is really starting to smile and show more personality. He is gaining weight and growing out of some of his newborn clothes!
Titus is still all over him with kisses. He is constantly talking and telling Oscar how they can play when Oscar grows big and strong. (love that heart!)
Elsa is eager to play tea party with anyone who is willing, even little Oscar.
It's been a fun last few months. We are finally getting into a groove of living life as a family of five. It's so awesome to see God's grace poured out on each of us through one another.

Improvements
Here are some pictures of our recent home improvement projects.
We recently received a very nice playground from our neighbors. We had a great morning with our community group disassembling, carrying across the street, rinsing, and reassembling. Thank you so much to all the men who helped out! This unit is kinda old, but still in good enough shape. The wood was sturdy, but was fraying and produced numerous splinters in the children's hands and knees. We decided to sand and paint it for the safety of the kids, and for Tiffany's sanity. Titus would have rather us paint it red like Lightning McQ. Sorry buddy.
And this is the under $25 redo of the guest/kids bathroom. I (Tiffany) wanted to do something creative and fun in this bathroom. Hope you like it!

Derby Party
We enjoyed a lovely afternoon with great friends, mint juleps and fancy hats! The ladies decorated their own hats for the party. We all enjoyed a refreshing mint julep, and the kids had a blast playing around.
All the adults got to draw a derby horse name out of a hat and cheer for that horse! Tiffany won a PayDay of 100Grand with the Derby winning horse "I'll Have Another"
Kyle came in second and received a prize
Cody's horse finished in last place and he got a little something for at least finishing
Carrie's horse didn't even finish the race.

PJ Party
Bedtime can be a fun time with the family, even if we get a little silly at times. Oscar wanted to join in on the fun and the kids thought it would be fun to lay on the floor and "act like a baby".
Titus and Elsa really do love their baby brother. Tonight, Oscar cried when we picked him up to leave the room so Titus and Elsa could go to bed. He was having too much fun. Sure looks like Oscar loves his big brother and big sister too!

Happy Easter 2012
Today is the day we celebrate that our Savior, Jesus Christ is risen! We are thankful that our family was able to be together on Easter and this picture is our first as a family of five.
We are reminded today that our God loved us so much that he sent His only son to die a horrible death on a cross to bear God's wrath against our sins. Jesus served as our substitute and took the the punishment we deserved. We believe that death was not the end of our Savior, but that God raised Jesus from the dead, so that now we not only share in his death (the death of our sins), but also in His life eternal. But not only do we share in His eternal life, free from the penalty of sin, but we are also adopted into God's family as heirs to Jesus' kingdom!
How amazing is that? God, from the beginning of time, had made a plan to adopt us into His family as his children. This vertical adoption is something that all Christians share. We are all adopted into God's Family. We hope to share this picture of vertical adoption to our family and friends more clearly through the lens of Oscar's adoption.
Just remember a key difference between God's adoption of us and our adoption of Oscar. God loved us and chose to adopt us when were were not lovely. We were mired in sin, something completely opposed to God. How ugly were we to God? See Isaiah 64:6 and Philippians 3:7-9 for what even our best looked like to God apart from Christ. Oscar, on the other hand, is warm and snugly; a cute little baby. He is easy to love.

Oscar Reid Carnahan
Oscar was born March 2, 2012 at 4:27pm, and weighed in at 3 pounds 8 ounces and was 15 inches long. He was born in Florida and Jordan and Tiffany made it just in time for Oscar to come into the world 7 weeks early from his due date. After a month's stay in Florida, we are healthy, growing and happy to be home.
