Kidney Stone Update

April 16th I received a lithotripsy procedure. I had a stone that was twice the size of the tube, and would have been excruciating to pass. So we had it blasted. 5:30 am we dropped the kids off for the day with some great friends. 6am we arrived at the hospital and got checked in. We met our doctor, the anesthesiologist, and a few nurses. By 7:30 I was sedated and ready to be wheeled off to the OR.

Jordan sat in the waiting room reading his book for about an hour, till the doctor called and said everything went well! Praise the Lord. He was allowed to come back to see me and I was so thankful to see his face and hold his hand. After receiving the prescriptions we were allowed to go home.

We arrived home, got comfortable, ate lunch and then laid down for a nap. We had such a big morning, we slept for a good long time. When we woke up, we wanted to go get our kids. We picked them up about 4pm with a decent report. Titus was good, and ate extremely well, with Elsa on the other hand, had trouble with the bottle again. Elsa needed to learn to take the bottle because one of the prescriptions I was taking concentrated in the breast milk and was not suitable for her. We detoured to Target, and bought a few different bottles to see if she would take a different nipple. We finally found one the seemed more natural, and eventually she took that bottle well. So from Friday till Wednesday early morning, Elsa was a bottle baby. Still taking breast milk, with a few formula bottles thrown in, she did well! Now I don't worry about leaving her with a bottle, because she is a pro.

So for the next few days, she took a bottle, I pumped and I passed sand. Yes, I said sand. We were hopping for fine sand, but I think I got some coarse sand too. I had more pain than I expected to have, but far less than if it had passed it whole. We are so thankful to be in an era that this procedure is possible.
I had a check up with the Urologist, and the results are positive! My x-ray from a few days before was clean. PRAISE GOD!!! Now, I have another check up in 6 months. Three weeks before I will have do do some interesting testing, and the results take 3 weeks to get to the doctor. So for now my diet includes, lots of lemonade and water, and it excludes salt and milk.

Nana & Lauren came to Visit

Nana and Lauren came out to visit for a long weekend. We had a great time going on picnics, to museums, and letting them babysit. It was so much fun we didn't want it to end. But Lauren needed to go back to school.

They arrived on Thursday evening and we enjoyed a lovely dinner and chatting, and then we went to bed to rest up for a fun filled weekend. Friday, we met up with some friends and went to the park and had a picnic. Yummy! Saturday we enjoyed the Atomic Museum, and another picnic on Kirtland AFB. The weather was so beautiful we love hanging out outside. That night Jordan and I went out for a special night while Nana and Lauren babysat Titus and Elsa. It sounds like Titus was pretty good, but Elsa just wasn't interested in taking a bottle and thus gave them a hard time. When we arrived home, she was needing some mommy and daddy time. Sunday we attended church, and enjoyed a lovely lunch at a great pizza buffet. Monday we went to a great ice cream store with tons of toys.

I think they enjoyed themselves, I know we sure did!

More Easter Time

We ate lunch with friends this afternoon. But before the eating, we went egg hunting!! There were 3 youngins that participated in the search. A 2yr old, 18month and 17month old. The 2yr old got the idea, but the other two needed some help from the daddys. The eggs were filled with yummy gummies, and little cookies. Lunch was tasty and the fellowship was even better.

Happy Easter

Happy Resurrection Day to everyone. What a beautiful day this is! Sunny and warm, and we are celebrating our Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We started our morning with some lovely choir and instrumentalists at church.

Then we enjoyed some family time.

Titus,Elsa

Here are the babies individually. As you can see, Titus wasn't the happiest toddler today. But we all have our days right? But he perked up. And Elsa was in smiling mood!

Dr. Appt

We needed a babysitter yesterday because we had a Doctor's appointment. We were receiving the results of my CT scan of my kidneys and discussing the course of treatment. So here is the news. I still have a big stone in my left kidney that needs to be taken care of. The Dr. has recommended an outpatient, non-invasive surgery that uses shockwaves to break up the stone into a fine sand. Pretty much I will be put under general anesthesia and then it will be like someone punching me in the back for an hour. For an hour! And this is why I will be put under. The recovery is supposedly only a day or so and my surgery will be scheduled for a Friday. Jordan will be around to take care of me and the kids and I'll be sure to have some friends on call for Monday just in case.

BabySitter's Report

Today we had a Babysitter for Titus and Elsa. Upon our return the report was as follows. I paraphrase what she said to me..

"Titus slept till 11:45, Elsa played and smiled at me. Titus ate lunch, played with the basketball, ate some more. Then all three of us watched a show. (this is where is got interesting) Titus and I were sitting in the recliner, Elsa was on my lap facing me. Elsa was kicking her feet, which happened to be right on Titus' cheek. Titus would grab and hold her foot, so as not to get kicked in the face. Then as he was watching the show and holding her foot, he would slowly put her foot in his mouth. It was so funny and cute, I laughed. He would let go, she would start kicking, and the process would begin again. Then Elsa went down for her nap. And Titus and I have just been playing around."

I said to her, Titus did what? He put Elsa's foot in his mouth!!! How hilarious is that! I am still laughing about it now, and thought I should share the laughter with all our blog readers! Enjoy that mental image. :)
