Christmas in May??

Yup, you read that correctly, Christmas in May. We received a "late" Christmas gift. The arrival of this gift was perfect timing, and was our doing that took us so long.

We are all dressed in our Sunday best for Easter this year. Its so much fun to dress up for the day. Elsa's dress is a handmade special from Momma and she loves it. Today was a very special day as we were able to celebrate Jesus' resurrection and our freedom from sin as a family.

This year for the kids "Easter Basket" they didn't get the traditional basket of candy and eggs. But since Earth Day coincided with Good Friday this year, Momma took advantage of the opportunity. They each received a gardening tools set, including a watering can and we picked out some flowers. They love digging, planting and watering (maybe watering a little too much!). If only they liked getting baths as much as getting dirty. Oh well, we can't have everything.

I can't say it enough, they just love playing in the dirt, and I love that they can learn from growing and caring for some flowers. Easter is celebrating life and the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. What better tangible object to portray that Life than a beautiful flower garden.

This is gonna be their little garden to grow things. We are still working on the finishing touches and clean up. We are glad that we have found a way for the whole family to participate. Hopefully it will continue to develop and be finished soon!

Playing in the dirt

We looked at the weather today and decided to stay in, until after naps. It was still a little cool, but hats and jackets help. We took a walk around the block and then came back and played in the dirt. Well, Elsa played in the dirt and Titus played with the sticks.

We had a blast and the sun was in a perfect place to dazzle the faces of the kids. Thus I ran inside to grab the camera. The kids were totally more enthralled with the dirt and sticks and not smiling at the camera. That happens.

Then we came inside to enjoy our dinner, and found this...

Apparently Jones wanted to come outside too.

Reading

Good Night little ones.

New Pajama's

I saw these jammies and I had to get them. I thought they were so cute and my kids look just adorable in them. They like to make elephant sounds all the time, so they are fitting. Enjoy!

Remodel update

The guest bedroom is getting finished finally. First was the wall color, then the ceiling. Upon trying to mix the ceiling color we found it was lumpy. :( So we had to go out and buy new. But that isn't so bad, now I have a smaller bucket to carry around for touch ups. Next I tackled window coverings. A few weeks ago I stumbled upon some wonderful curtains on clearance. I brought them home only to find that they are perfect. The colors match our walls! How awesome right? Right. But something was still missing. Our home is unique.

I am not sure what our overall design type is, such as modern, traditional, or country. I would like to have more of a contemporary design but we have columns. yes columns. Esther, you can have my columns. SO I have to temper the modern things with some sophistication. The clearance panels were plain. I have blue stripes, red stripes, and blue and brown paisley. All coordinating. I started on the panels in our closet first. Oh Boy that was a task to tackle. Yikes. I got overwhelmed and had to change the design a few times. So there is only one panel almost finished in there. So when we were finally doing the guest bedroom I decided to work on those curtains instead. I measured twice and cut once, but sewed and ripped then sewed again. I 'finished' these once. But it was done with black thread. yuck. It look way too homemade. So I ripped out all the black and started again with a red I had to go out and get. After taking the time to rip out all the black, I decided to take my time and do these right the first time. I think my patience paid off. I am happy with them, and Jordan is happy with them, *sigh of relief.* I was beginning to wonder if I had made the mistake of biting off more than I could chew. ya know? Hopefully the next curtains will go smoother than these, and hopefully they will just keep getting better!
